Aloha Hooey (1942)
Aloha Hooey Review
Aloha Hooey is a 1942 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very weak flick.
This short revolves around the beach as that is its main setting. It’s weird to think that this is one of the very few Merry Melodies with a beach setting, but that’s how it is leading to a different, refreshing movie in that regard. However, everything else here is so subpar that it really doesn’t matter too much.
I particularly found the characters annoying and odd. They talk oddly and behave in a rather annoying, arrogant manner. The animation is good in the backgrounds, but it’s absolutely problematic, and I would even say unappealing, in its odd character design. Yes, this movie is very weird in a negative sense.
Aloha Hooey looks good and the atmosphere is fine, but the characters are very unlikable and the plot is slim.
