Ain’t That Ducky (1945)
Ain’t That Ducky Review
Ain’t That Ducky is a 1945 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific Daffy Duck entry.
Daffy here is chased by a hunter, but the two also want to find out why the little duckling is crying and what exactly is written on the paper in his suitcase. Though a bit disparate in its two parts and switching the roles a bit too frequently, I still liked both of these subplots with the hunter/prey one being regular, but featuring a couple of really impressive sequences.
One is that last scene and I really did like the little duck and how aggressive he was, but the reveal that it says “The End” was very funny. The highlight, though, is easily that barrel sequence which is hilarious, especially in how Daffy delivers that joke. His speeches can get pretty funny owing to his amusing pronunciations and quick delivery. The action and humor are so good here. I just wish that hunter was Elmer and not a whole new character.
Ain’t That Ducky is disparate at times, but awesome in both subplots with many outstanding humorous moments and per usual very amusing Daffy Duck.
