A Pest in the House (1947)
A Pest in the House Review
A Pest in the House is a 1947 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid, but not great flick.
I liked this cartoon, though I did not love it as much as I should have having in mind its star power. Elmer here isn’t as well used as I would have liked and that new customer is strangely underdeveloped. I did like Daffy though and he’s definitely different than your usual Daffy, but he still works as this crazy, goofy fellow.
His fast talk and his mannerisms continue to entertain me and he’s great here throughout. The animation is also very good and I did like how the hotel was utilized for laughs and the premise is actually pretty good, but it left a lot to be desired when it comes to the action and the other characters’ development.
A Pest in the House has weaker supporting characters, but Daffy himself is very entertaining per usual.
