A-Lad-In His Lamp (1948)
A-Lad-In His Lamp Review
A-Lad-In His Lamp is a 1948 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very amusing flick.
As the title so obviously suggests, this is one of those Aladdin parodies done by Warner Bros. and it really worked with some reservations. Admittedly, it could have been more ambitious with the Arabian setting and character count as we just get these two main characters, but the genie is so great himself.
His interactions with the bunny are so funny, and I loved how Bugs made him lose his temper. Wishing for carrots was also funny, and that whole first conversation was so entertaining to follow. The animation’s also terrific, and I loved how the genie looked, and how Baghdad looked as well. The dialogue shines here whereas the action takes the backseat this time around.
A-Lad-In His Lamp is simplistic, but so amusing in the interactions between Bugs Bunny and Genie who is being called Smokey here.
