A Hick a Slick and a Chick (1948)
A Hick a Slick and a Chick Review
A Hick a Slick and a Chick is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a standard short.
It follows two mice who compete to win the attention of a female mouse. Needless to say, this isn’t a particularly original short nor does it feel modern in any way as it clearly fits the early or mid 30s cartoons much more. The plot and characterizations are pretty typical.
It isn’t without its memorable moments though as that ending where he made a coat out of a cat’s butt was hilarious. A few moments here are fun and I also liked the dialogue and the voice acting. But the animation, action and plotting are mostly subpar though.
A Hick a Slick and a Chick has its memorable moments, but overall it’s another typical Merry Melody with an unoriginal plot.
