A Bear for Punishment (1951)
A Bear for Punishment Review
A Bear for Punishment is a 1951 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak short.
This is the last cartoon from Warner Bros. to star The Three Bears. And sadly that is for the better as the quality of their cartoons has by this point reached a new low. Yes, I did like them before, but overall their cartoons are overly weird and timely for the forties with not much timeless appeal to them.
Especially is true with this particular short which is well voiced (though Mel Blanc isn’t in the cast), and very well animated, but frankly quite slim in plot and characterization. The musical number with which it ends took too much of the screen time from other more important gags which are lacking here as the action is far from great.
A Bear for Punishment did not end The Three Bears series all that well. It’s technically fine, but slim in humor and plot.
