Ozark Lark Review

Ozark Lark Review

Ozark Lark is a 1960 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty solid short.

The feud between the Martins and the Coys has ended after all being wiped out except for one. Woody comes by and inadvertently starts it back up. This is somewhat of a return to form for the series. It’s not a great short, but the low standards during this period in the series’ history means that this is the best short in quite a while.

It lacks the inventive and funny gags of the series’ best cartoons, but it still has a couple of amusing scenarios and a very well realized hick character. The Martins and the Coys are a very familiar setup for a cartoon, but here this premise was actually very well executed thanks to Woody’s fun dialogue and a couple of pretty memorable scenes.

Ozark Lark isn’t the best Woody Woodpecker short, but it’s a perfectly solid one due to a solid premise well executed and some amusing scenes.

My Rating – 3.8
