Witch Crafty Review

Witch Crafty Review

Witch Crafty is a 1955 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty flawed flick.

A witch’s broom breaks right outside of the broom factory where Woody just happens to be working. Unfortunately for her she doesn’t have the fifty cents needed to purchase a new handle. This is an odd movie for this particular series as it resembled more a Looney Tunes cartoon. The flick has a pretty entertaining ending and a memorable witch character. Woody is also quite devious here.

But the problem here is that the plot never really went anywhere unexpected or fun. The premise was ripe for more laughter and fun scenarios, but apart from that stellar ending, the film had nothing particularly memorable to offer. The witch needed more development and she should have been more competent overall.

Witch Crafty is a fun enough short that has a stellar ending, but its strong premise required much better execution overall.

My Rating – 3.6
