Tree Saps is a 1931 animated short film from the Talkartoons series.

This movie offers a series of blackout gags organized around a lumber camp. It’s not the most memorable Talkartoons short that did not have any memorable scene in it besides that striking ending. The animation is only fine and Bimbo was better utilized in a couple of previous shorts.

But the score is excellent and the highlight was of course that ending. The band playing in the air made for such a fun, original ending to a cartoon. It was so good that Disney straight up ripped it off for their ending of ‘The Band Concert’. This is how influential Fleischers were on the animation medium.

Tree Saps is far from a memorable short that features a forgettable first half, but it ended with a terrific ending that was so much fun.
