Double or Mutton Review

Double or Mutton is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid short.

This is another Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog cartoon. Here, it is cemented that the two are actually coworkers in that very amusing finale. As for the overall short, I did not care for some parts in the mid section, but most of it was pretty strong. The sheep-stealing is the most interesting when done differently with the Bo Beep segment and the vehicular part being the best.

Others are weaker, but throughout Sam is very cool and badass. Ralph here at least has great ideas, but they all backfire naturally. The score is good and the animation is per usual superb. Though I still find it strange that Ralph and Wile E. Coyote are so similar, at least these shorts are overall superbly painted and are thus quite charming.

Double or Mutton has some weaker parts in it, but the animation is excellent and some action scenes are quite well thought out.
