Extinct Pink (1969)
Extinct Pink is a 1969 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
Prehistoric Pink Panther fights over a bone with a caveman version of the Little Man, a big blue dinosaur and a small green lizard. This is the second short in the series that is set in the prehistoric past, and it’s somewhat of an improvement over the previous ‘Prehistoric Pink’. Again, nothing here is truly memorable or funny, but the movie is suitably entertaining and charming.
The animation is great and the film makes use of the various dinosaurs in it so well. The same should be said for the score and the film’s atmosphere, which is striking. The ending is quite fun and I loved that scene, but the rest of the cartoon needed more scenes like that. Its colorful palette is clearly its highlight.
Extinct Pink is far from great, but its colorful animation and a fun last scene make it a worthy prehistoric adventure.
