Hippety Hopper (1949)
Hippety Hopper Review
Hippety Hopper is a 1949 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very disappointing flick.
This is the first short where this kangaroo is named, and I really like the character. He’s not only iconic in his looks, but also a lot of fun in his boxing abilities. I found some scenes here with him terrific and I loved how he made fools out of both protagonists. The animation and score are good too.
But my main problem with this film is that it makes very weak use of both the bulldog and once again Sylvester unfortunately. They are mostly poorly utilized, and especially their interactions are never as great as they could have been. I found that finale with the ballet dancing out of the yard very odd and unfunny.
Hippety Hopper has a great titular character, but the other two guys are mostly poorly utilized.
I bet Hippety Hopper will go on Tekken Force and knock out Crow, Hawk, Owl and Falcon with kung-fu kicks and punches and throws and slams and grapples and holds and even smack them down with force and collect all chickens so he’ll get an extra health life and then will fight against King, Anna Williams, Jin Kazama, Lei Wulong, Paul Phoenix, Gun Jack, Nina Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Julia Chang, Kuma, Panda, Hwoarang, Forest Law or even Mokujin and even fight the final boss Heihachi Mishima and kick and punch them smack in the face and then knock them all out cold and win and every stage will be clear even if Hippety will fight against Eddy Gordo and knock him out with a powerful blow right in the stomach or even break his leg or slam on top of him and the same will happen to Hwoarang or Lei Wulong or King or Anna Williams or Nina Williams or King or Forest Law or Jin Kazama or Paul Phoenix or Ling Xiaoyu or Gun Jack or Kuma or Panda or Forest Law or Yoshimitsu or Bryan Fury or even Heihachi Mishima who deserve it and then Hippety Hopper wins.
