Reel Pink is a 1965 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.
Reel Pink is all about the panther going fishing and then getting pestered by this very feisty crab who really gives him a strong headache. Now, what I liked about this short is the animation which is strong and the use of the setting which is terrific. The crab is memorable, the worm is also fun and the panther’s annoying expressions are great.
What is not great is the series’ willingness to now focus only on these setting-inspired shorts with no Little Man and no really memorable storytelling or humor. These are still solid cartoons, but nothing particularly remarkable nor memorable. I just want him to go back to the house and face his greatest foe once again. I hope I get that sooner rather than later.
Reel Pink has a subpar plot and it’s nothing great, but the setting is well utilized and the crab’s memorable.
