Little Orphan Airedale (1947)
Little Orphan Airedale Review
Little Orphan Airedale is a 1947 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very amusing cartoon.
This is the debut film of Charlie Dog and he’s such a fun character that I cannot wait his for his next adventure. The other dog character here really pales in comparison. Porky himself is solid and serviceable, but Charlie is the real star of the picture and his whining, made-up stories and manipulation are hilarious.
I did find both the beginning and the ending very lacking as the middle part is so great that those few moments simply could not compete. It unfortunately thus isn’t great throughout, but those great scenes are so terrific that I did not mind the flaws as much. The humor is excellent and the dialogue is superb.
Little Orphan Airedale is lacking in some parts, but overall it is very funny and the new character Charlie is so good and memorable.
