Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears (1944)
Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears Review
Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears is a 1944 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very problematic cartoon.
This is a problematic short because the focus is simply non-existent. It never decides whether to focus on the bears themselves of the bunny. It thus felt rather flawed, undercooked and simply too troublesome to enjoy it more. I still liked it, but it frustrated me that it didn’t reach the greatness which was in its grasp for sure. I also found the humor lacking.
But still it has its moments near the beginning with the bears which are amusing and the ending is pretty good and fun. Bugs is actually rather forgettable here. He’s solid, but far from his greatest. The Three Bears are actually the standouts here in terms of both humor and especially characterization.
Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears is definitely amusing at times and with memorable bear characters, but it lacked focus and Bugs is underutilized.
