Tom Turk and Daffy (1944)
Tom Turk and Daffy Review
Tom Turk and Daffy is a 1944 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is an absolutely hilarious flick.
Daffy Duck hides a turkey named Tom Turk from Porky Pig who wants to eat him for dinner. But when he hears the sumptuous descriptions of the dinner from the pig, he gives in and leads him to the turkey. Yes, this premise is so good that only its third act isn’t as great as the rest of the film is. I also found the animation not all that great.
But everything else is terrific. Porky is good and Tom Turk is also a memorable, fun character, but this is Daffy’s cartoon to shine and he did just that. His personality here is perfect, his speeches are fantastic and he is simply hysterically funny and he made me laugh more than he ever did before. Watching him sweat by listening to the yummy dinner descriptions made my day and some of those speech patterns and phrases were comedic gold.
Tom Turk and Daffy has good characterization and premise, but quite possibly the best humor from Warner Bros. so far as it truly is a hilarious cartoon.
