My Favorite Duck (1942)
My Favorite Duck Review
My Favorite Duck is a 1942 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It’s a truly terrific entry.
Daffy Duck tells Porky Pig that it’s not hunting season and he shouldn’t shoot him and then proceeds to harass the poor pig throughout the cartoon. Now, this entry isn’t amazing as it’s not effective in its every scene as some aren’t as great as others and the pairing of the two was odd at first, but eventually I started to love them and some of their interactions are truly special.
The animation and score are great and the action is so well executed here. One of the comedic highlights includes that fishing sequence which can only happen in a cartoon and obviously that ending is fantastic, even though it’s weird seeing Daffy lose, but still that led to an original cartoon. Porky is so good here and Daffy is at his screwy best.
My Favorite Duck features fantastic interactions between its two classic characters with a couple of terrific one-liners and very funny scenes.
