Moving Day (1936)
Moving Day Review
Moving Day is a 1936 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a pretty fun entry.
This is the third classic cartoon starring all three classic characters together – Mickey, Goofy and Donald. Although pretty good, the short is much inferior to ‘Mickey’s Service Station’ and ‘Mickey’s Fire Brigade’ owing to its extended runtime, slow pace and particularly underutilized Mickey who is basically non-existent for the majority of the runtime.
The three are moving owing to Pete’s warning and the film basically consists of two long, elaborate set pieces and humorous sequences which take almost the entirety of runtime. The piano scene with Goofy is quite amusing, but it is Donald’s scene with the plunging stuck up his butt that of course steals the show as the duck is hilarious here and this was the perfect kind of situation to see his frustration brought to the fullest extent.
Moving Day definitely isn’t great as it’s rather flawed, but Donald is particularly hilarious here in one great, funny scene.
