Notes to You (1941)
Notes to You Review
Notes to You is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty good flick.
This short stars Porky Pig and finally he gets an entire cartoon for himself. He is perfectly used here as an annoyed straight man. An alley cat constantly sings a song in the middle of the night disrupting his sleep. Yes, this concept somehow feels very familiar, but it actually is original and hasn’t been done before by the studio leading to a very unique film.
I did find its humor lacking as the film needed to be hilarious, but is only amusing. The second half is also weaker than the first one. But the cat character is fantastic, the action is exceedingly terrific and the black-and-white animation here is one of the best so far. Very atmospheric.
Notes to You is one highly entertaining Porky Pig outing with the pig being so well used and the cat being such a good new character. The well utilized action is the highlight here.
