The Henpecked Duck Review

The Henpecked Duck is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty solid short.

So Daffy Duck has a wife here which is, I guess, interesting. But definitely kind of weird. The entire story here is actually pretty original and amusing where he was doing magic tricks by disappearing and reappearing their egg. However, once he could not bring the egg back, the wife goes to court to sue him. It’s a great premise, but the execution is admittedly middling.

The film is never truly funny although it has its fun moments. I did like the wife character quite a bit and her line “I want a divorce!” was repeated throughout and it steals the show here. Daffy needed more great moments for sure. The animation is solid and the film is an interesting example of a courtroom drama cartoon.

The Henpecked Duck is middling in execution, but solid in premise and amusing in dialogue.
