Porky’s Prize Pony (1941)
Porky’s Prize Pony Review
Porky’s Prize Pony is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very slim short.
Yes, this is one of the weakest Porky Pig outings so far. I am happy to see him used to a fuller extent of course. And he is definitely endearing here and wonderful. The horse is also okay. But other than these two, the film is rather flat and uninspired.
This is just one horse race spread throughout the whole runtime of six minutes and thus the film felt slow, boring and entirely uneventful. The lack of dialogue from the pig also bothered me as the film is too silent. The animation is okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The same goes for the score.
Porky’s Prize Pony at least uses Porky in a fuller extent, but the slight plot, weak action and a lack of humor hurt this short tremendously.
