The Haunted Mouse (1941)
The Haunted Mouse Review
The Haunted Mouse is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is funny at times, but mostly bland.
The cat arrives in ghost town where a ghost mouse starts tormenting him until killing the stupid cat and being forced to flee the town as the ghost cat is after him. Yes, that ending, although an obvious development, was so funny and perfect for this cartoon. It is the standout element of an otherwise weaker film.
The rest of the movie has its moments, but is mostly not great. The cat is amusing, but an archetype. The mouse is unfortunately not as funny or as energetic as he should have been and the film thus struggled creating/maintaining its energy. The animation is also pretty subpar and by now black-and-white entries are looking very archaic when compared to the color ones.
The Haunted Mouse has a strong and funny ending, but the rest of the cartoon is bland and lacking in energy.
