Porky’s Poor Fish (1940)
Porky’s Poor Fish Review
Porky’s Poor Fish is a 1940 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very subpar entry.
This is one of those old-fashioned animal cartoons that haven’t really aged well or are all that in line with other Looney Tunes but are more in line with Disney flicks. And even at that, it would be a weaker Disney flick for sure. The storytelling is pretty weak and the action and gags are mostly not memorable.
However, the animation and score are very strong. The action on screen is well animated and the character design is solid. The music is also lively and well incorporated into the picture. As for Porky Pig himself, he is present more in this cartoon than in many previous ones, but still he is underutilized and it’s a shame what they have been doing to him for quite some time now.
Porky’s Poor Fish is very well animated and scored, but too old-fashioned and forgettable.
